The people of Ondo state, on Wednesday, held a commendation service and a special court session for the late Rotimi Akeredolu.

The Akure township stadium hosted the laying in state and commendation service, while the Ondo High Court headquarters hosted the special court session.
The late Akeredolu’s remains were greeted by Ondo governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the governor’s office in the capital city of Ondo, Alagbaka, Akure.
Aiyedatiwa thanked the state judiciary during the court session for setting up the unique valedictory court session in honor of Akeredolu.
“This honor bestowed upon our departed hero, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu by the judiciary is truly merited, and I recognize the significant influence of governor Akeredolu’s lifetime commitment to the legal field,” he remarked.
Olusegun Odusola, the chief judge of Ondo, stated in his welcome speech that Akeredolu demonstrated his commitment to the independence and integrity of the court by advocating for judges’ welfare and imagining a modern judiciary complex.
Prominent figures in attendance were of Olusegun Mimiko, the former governor of Ondo, Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the head of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF).
Among the others were Charles Edosan, a representative of the Body of Benchers, Olusola Oke, a representative of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), and Mandy Demechi-Asagba, a representative of the NBA president.
